A late afternoon fall day in Minnesota.

Pole Bending at a local western horse show.

Near Lake Louise in Banff National Park, Alberta. Nicholas Morant was a photographer for the Canadian Pacific Railway. This particular point on the mainline became known as “Morant’s Curve” as it was one of his favorite photo spots.

This October I had a wonderful opportunity to join Darwin, Sam and John photographing as part of the SNAP! Photography Seminars ‘Weekend Workshop’ where we stayed at the wonderful Baker Creek Chalets. The weeks was relaxing, full of photography, laughter, and learning. Above is a photo taken the morning after the rest of the group had departed of the Castle Mountains. That night is snowed lightly and the sun and clouds danced on the mountains.

This last weekend I had the wonderful pleasure of photographing the wedding of Lindsy and Zach Johnson in White Bear Lake, MN. Here is Lindsy and her niece on the beach near the Church where the wedding took place. The bride was glowing, the groom handsome, the family very friendly. The day was wonderful and you could see the love between these two.

This is a horse and rider having just entered the arena for the Jumping Figure 8 event. Generally it is hard to get the horses actually jumping over the pole as so many of them are able to walk right over it. At the very least some of them may just do a little hop which is hard to capture.
This one has some heavy post processing to bring out the rugged feeling that many of the horses and rider’s felt on this day. The sun never appeared, the temperature was low, the winds were up. Needless to say it felt like a late October day then a late April spring day.

Trumpeter Swan coming in for a landing on the Mississippi River in Monticello, MN.

Enjoying Twins outdoor stadium baseball with a few friends. The bat actually split when the ball hit it.

Well show season has begun in MN. This weekend I spent Sat at Houck Horse Farms at a Easter Western Event Fun Show. Despite the cooler temperatures, clouds appearing to threaten rain, and the upcoming holiday the next day, there was an excellent turn-out. Riders of all ages with horses of all experience were represented. Everyone had excellent runs and were in high spirits, cheering each other on and being supportive. Many riders attend the same events and there is always a big family type feel.
Above was on of the peewee riders. In the photo she continues to stay calm and recovers to finish the Jumping Figure 8 event after her horse takes a slight trip.
